Londani Coal (Pty) Ltd was established in 2006.  It acquired Nndanganeni Colliery (Old Kopermyn Project) and commenced operations in January 2017.  Londani Coal (Pty) Ltd produces approximately 1.45MT ROM annually and has established export and inland coal markets for its sized coal products. Exports are mainly done by utilising the Maputo Mozambique Corridor and customers that exports from South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT).  Londani Coal has further been awarded Quattro Allocation at RBCT during 2019. Abubekir Salim

Executive Director

Mr Abubekir Salim holds a BSc Degree (Honours) in Geology Engineering from Kocaeli University, Turkey and a (MSc) Rock Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand, School of Mining Engineering, South Africa. Mr Salim is a Director and Shareholder of Londani Coal (Pty) Ltd and on the Board of various mining companies.  He is the Managing Director and Co-founder of Vunani Resources. Mr. Salim has been a regular speaker at several conferences, namely:

  • Privatisation of Railways in South Africa, at the Coaltrans Conference
  • Coal mining trade at the China Business Summit
  • 7th Annual Global Commodities Finance (Euro Money)
  • 6th Coaltrans – Russia (South African Coal Markets and recent developments)
  • 3rd Coaltrans Mozambique (Placing Mozambique’s coal sector within the SADC context)
  • Southern Africa Mining Summit

Mehmet Selim Kaymak

Chief Executive Officer

Selim is a graduate in Political Science from the University of Ankara, Turkey and thereafter achieved a Masters in Business Administration at GIBS Business School, University of Pretoria, South Africa. He has gained extensive experience and knowledge in the mining industry through his 12 years experience as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer for mining companies. With his exceptional knowledge in exploration, mining and management of mining operations in South Africa, he is able to lead the team with great enthusiasm and steps in the right direction. He also has extensive knowledge on successful investments and has led several investment opportunities in mining and various other sectors.

Etienne Jooste

Chief Operations Officer

Etienne has 15 years experience in the Coal Mining Industry where he held several key senior management positions within industry leading companies.  Over the years he headed an operational portfolio of long term, large scale mining and material handling contracts at senior management and executive level with total bottom line responsibility.  Majority of the works was for blue chip mining companies in South Africa including Exxaro Coal, Anglo American TC, Glencore Coal, Sasol Coal, Xstrata Coal, BHP Billiton and South 32.  Apart from sustainable and cost effective operations, Etienne has a strong focus on Business Management and Leadership.  Etienne holds an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch Business School, a BTech degree in Project Management and a National Diploma in Industrial Engineering.

Jonathan Ebo Collins

General Manager

Jonathan holds a BSc (Hon) degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, School of Mines, Kumasi – Ghana and a Graduate Diploma in Engineering –GDE (Mining) from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg – South Africa.  He has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry in both underground and surface mining operations in various mineral commodities including gold, iron ore and coal.  He has a multinational working experience having worked in such countries as Ghana, Liberia and South Africa in the mining industry in senior positions of management on green-fields and brown-fields mining projects and operations. Professionally he holds a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency in both hard rock and coal mining operations, Diploma Certificate in Project Management and is a member of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and the South African Colliery Managers Association (SACMA) professional bodies in South Africa.
