Londani Coal (Pty) Ltd and its sub-contractors are actively involved in the local community surrounding our mining operations.  Londani is passionate about skills development, employment opportunities and infra-structure development for people from the said community.  We aim to provide the best opportunities by working hand in hand with local government and non-governmental organisations according to an approved SLP plan.  We believe that each skills development, employment opportunity and local development has a lasting impact on the lives of our local people that will remain for future generations to come.

During 2018, Londani embarked on a process to advertise for the recruitment of 2x permanent learnership positions available.

After careful consideration, two female candidates were selected and enrolled for a two-year learnership programme (Mechanical) at the Colliery Training Centre (CTC) in Emalahleni.

After completing the theoretical part of the course, the students will do the practical modules at our Nndanganeni Mine.

Londani has advertised eight training positions available late in 2018 and candidates were selected from the local community.

The said training involved the theoretical and practical part to get students certified as Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) and Excavator operators. Some of the positions were designated for Blasting Assistant training.

The process is still ongoing and will be completed shortly.

As part of community development and fulfilling our commitments as stated in our Social and labour plan, Londani Coal went on a recruitment drive around the Steve Tshwete local Municipality in 2018, with the assistance of the community structures, with the aim of identifying qualifying community members for training.

Two female learners were identified and started their training in their chosen fields.  Their dedication and commitment to their studies and practical work undertaken at our Nndanganeni Colliery in Middelburg, under the guidance of our Mine Management, assisted them in successfully obtaining their qualification as artisans in their respective fields.

Their training which began January 2019, came to an end in August 2020.  Both leaners passed their subjects and are now a qualified Fitter and Electrician.

Londani Coal (Pty) Ltd would like to thank both the learners for being part of their social and labour project and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
